What will you watch this weekend?

Three very different films are coming to a theater near you this weekend:

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)

I have to be completely honest with you: I want to see this movie. I know, I know. It probably has a terrible script full of those “I just killed this guy in a weird way and now I am going to say something cliche and walk away while something explodes just at the right time” moments, but it looks enjoyable to me. I think mixing the true history of Honest Abe with the fictional Vampire stuff can be clever.

Brave (2012)

Personally, not a big Pixar fan. I mean I love Toy Story just as much as the next person, but for some reason they fail to resonate with me. I might just be a cynical girl who can’t let myself pretend to be a kid for an afternoon, but I am sure it is up to par with Pixar’s previous efforts. It is also nice to see a female lead for the first time in their films.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012)

The reviews are mixed but I am really looking forward to this one. Steve Carell and Keira Knightly seem like an unlikely pair, and I think that is kind of the point. What would people really do if we knew the world was going to end in three weeks? I will definitely give this one a chance and try not to go into it too critically. Carell’s dry self-deprecating humor gets me every time.

Or you could go see The Avengers again, I won’t judge you…
